The Mission of CV YEA is "Our mission is to fight environmental injustices in the Central Valley through connecting like-minded individuals".
CV YEA is based in Fresno, CA and led by Executive Director Kamryn Kubose (interview), who we met during our visit to Golden Charter Academy. CV YEA takes part in Clean Vehicle Empowerment Collaborative. The board consists of master's students and environmental activists based in California.

I don’t think they particularly see themselves as helpful to the tea growers - they are more about codifying/enacting a “final vocabulary” around their view of environmental sustainability
In the context of a supply chain where the Global North [sic] corp/buyer is at the top, they are defining and enacting “the ethical” and environmental “responsibility” in their standards and their inspections and their certifications and labels and branding, without any real awareness of how these things are already happening, for different reasons, in the context of somewhere like Tanzania where the tea is actually being grown.
Standards development organizations, which include heavy influence from corporations in the Global North [sic], are “codify[ing] values of sustainability that are to govern practices” p825
Not much on the context of CSR or the history of these SDOs and why they exist.
In comparison to other counties, Essex county has the largest number of children above the CDC blood lead level, 5% of Essex county children are affected. They surpassed Passaic County's 3.4%. This risk is more prominent in Essex county than any other group in the state.
Newark school's reported that their almost half of buildings have lead in their water. This is creating immense vulnerability in Essex County, and the issue in Newark dates back to about four years ago. This problem also stems from the history of lead-based paint, which was outlawed in 1978, but still can be found in many homes, and poisons children.
