I hope to be involved in projects that aim to gather scientific evidence to inform environmental decision making and advocate for greater equity and justice in environmental governance. Through this work, I hope to learn the skills needed to engage in community based research and leverage community knowledge as expert knowledge. In my department, things are often siloed and issues are only seen through one perspective. I really want to gain more experience in collaborating with a wide array of stakeholders to come up with approaches to mitigate the environmental injustices experienced in under-resourced communities.

Epidemics following natural disasters do not occur because of chaos or dead bodies, which was thought to be the root cause. The primary cause of illness is actually population displacement, and the disruptions in food supply, sanitation, and availability of healthcare that it causes.

"The violence broke out when the patient spit at the Emergency Service Unit officers and swore at them. The officers responded by hitting him in the face, hauling him off the stretcher to the ground and then tossing him back on the stretcher, the EMTs said in written statements submitted to the FDNY."

"An FDNY spokesman confirmed there was a notification from the agency to the NYPD. The NYPD said the 67th Precinct incident is being investigated by the Internal Affairs Bureau."

Doctors without Borders is comprised of a diverse range of both medical professionals, technicians, and administrators. 

There were many personal interviews along with overall analysis of the system through history of the industry and related companies. He combined both personal subjective experience and objective events to strengthen his arguement.

The two authors reference it in their book, Biosecurity Interventions: Global Health and Security in Question. Otherwise I couldn't find anything.

This report was produce by compiling historical events and vignettes of the investigation process following several prolific tragedies. They are compared, and conclusions are drawn about similar aspects that muddle investigation following one of these tragedies.
