Asbestos is a mineral fiber that is found in both rock and soil. Since it is resistant to heat and corrosion, the building and construction industries have utilized asbestos for strengthening cement and plastics, in addition to using it for insulation, roofing, fireproofing, and sound absorption. Nevertheless, asbestos is also a carcinogen.
