Critical Commentary

In 2016, the year of the departure of the Siberian white crane, a famous social activist Yang Ru-Men (楊儒門) came to Jinshan to achieve his goal of a better future for our farmers. The crucial event that brought Yang to the political stage was Taiwan’s entry into the WTO in 2002. From 2003 to 2004, Yang set 17 bombs in public places to raise a concern about the negative impact on domestic rice farmers after the government allowed the import of agricultural products. This fierce action gave him the name ‘rice bomber’.
