In August 2015, a group of 75 plaintiffs (30 families) of Taisi Township, Yunlin County, a community on the fence line of the Sixth Naphtha Cracker petrochemical zone, started a civil action against five companies of the Formosa Plastics Group (FPG), which owns the zone.

Sociologist Paul Jobin (Academica Sinica) and his team have been studying the environmental lawsuit and the social movement since 2016. Their research builds on many types of data and fieldwork, including discussions with plaintiffs, lawyers and local organizers and close observations of the court proceedings.
自2016年以來，社會學家彭保羅（中央研究院）與團隊持續研究環境訴訟與社會運動。保羅的研究奠基於多種類型的資料與田野工作，其中包括原告律師與在地組織的討論，以及對法院內訴訟程序的仔細觀察。
The following photo essay presents a selection of courtroom sketches, with commentary by Paul Jobin, powerfully drawing out the dynamics of the lawsuit between 2016 and today. The material is meant to animate analysis of Formosa Plastics lawsuits in other places, as well as contribute to a research commons. Court illustrations are a recognized data type, see for example the exhibition at the U.S. Library of Congress.
