QUOTIDIAN ANTHROPOCENES: NEW ORLEANS

Introduction

This digital collection contains materials related to the Anthropocene as seen from and experienced in New Orleans. It also serves as an archive for participants in the 2019 New Orleans Anthropocene Field Campus: Labor and Violence in the Anthropocene.

The materials in this collection -- including the New Orleans Field Campus -- explore the transformation of land, life and labor in the region dating from the racialized violence of slavery and the plantation economy to the present-day toxic industries of "Cancer Alley." The materials in this essay contain background information to help us prepare for concrete site visits.

The digital collection is intended to be an evolving, collaborative document reflecting our experiences and takeaways from the field campus. Please add any articles, images, videos or other artifacts that you encounter during our time in New Orleans or after
