Mission statement "The Center for Prisoner Health and Human Rights seeks to improve the health and human rights of criminal justice populations through education, research, and advocacy."
The Center for Prisoner Health and Human Rights wants to use research on at-risk populations, such as those in prisons, and develope strategies into sustainable laws. Because this vision spans both the healthcare and policy for prisoners the program hopes to be able to attain this goal more effectively than if it were not interdisciplinary. A large part of their platform is advocacy. They wish to inform policy makers, healthcare professionals and indsutry, and the public about prisoners' lives and needs.
The stakeholders discribed in the film was the general population of Liberia. They had shared experiances of seeing the effects of ebola, innitially being in denial of its severity, then finally seeing the entire liberian public health system be overwhelmed and fail by an apparently unstopable and horrifying disease. The people effected needed to make difficult decisions about how to avoid contracting the disease, how to protect their families, and how to deal with the emotional strain placed on them by the epidemic.
They confess that ‘survivors of sexual violence have generally been neglected in standard models of humanitarian aid delivery’.
To return to the story: with humanitarians effectively governing in crisis zones, it is not surprising that gender-based violence should become an issue; having been categorised as a human rights violation, one which garnered significant attention, it could not be easily ignored or brushed aside as a ‘private’ matter.
In this sense, gender-based violence makes it clear that the suffering body – while purportedly universal – requires certain political, historical and cultural attributes to render it visible and worthy of care.

The author of this article drew on first hand accounts of the WTC attacks from fire, police, and EMS personel, as well as witnesses to reconstruct the events that transpired on the morning of 9/11/01 with regards to the response. Based on this, the author examines specific shortcomings, such as lack of coordination between Fire and Police, comminication barriers, and the overwhelming and uncoordinated response by both on and off-duty firefighters.
The author states that this work is based off of a few things, including multiple years of field work in Ukraine throughout 1990 to 2000.
Based upon her observations within research and medical facilities within Ukraine during these visits she defined patterns of issues affecting the population.
Using her knowledge and past experience as well she established these patterns and their effects in order to understand the situation in Ukraine.
She also interviewed russian scientists to understand their perspective on the issues as well.
