This article has been discussed by one of the authors, Farmer who has used this article as evidence of the emergent state of Hati and Rwanda in terms of structural violence. This article is published online, so it is a universal resource for people to reference in papers, college courses and the alike.
The methods to produce the arguments in the report include taking direct evidence and using its information to explain the issue of rape and how it became a more popular issue in the medical community. Statements of general information and explanation are also provided with direct quotes as evidence. The article also includes explained acounts of how rape is treated by the medical community in African communities.
Emergency response is not directly addressed, but the policy of allowing otherwise ineligible people to full access to the emergency medical system indirectly is effected and has its own challenges, disputes, and implications.
This article has been referred online through different UCLA websites. It is publically available through online databases such as STS.
Three points I followed up to learn more was:
healthcare currently in the united states, for example obama care and how it helps people without insurance. I learned that through this system it was easier and more efficient for some people to get care and insurance even if they had prior health conditions. However I also learned it is not a perfect solution.
I looked up the percentages of americans who do not have health insurance. From researching this I learned that the number was a lot higher than I had expected and I questioned why the number was not lower due to obama care.

The last point I looked up was national admission rates to ERs. I was curious on the national average about how many people seek help. I wondered how many people do not seek help becasue they do not have insurance. I also became curious about how many of these people came to get treatement and were denied.
The arguments are supported by data from the National Institute of Health and beyond as well as interviews with people on the ground.
The data used to produce the claims in the report were investigations of past American disasters and how these shortcomings eventually lead to a failure for those investigating 9/11. Direct quotes and explanation of each of the historical events were also used to support the claims made.
The assessments that patients take are not visible to the public so I can not elaborate on it. This is what is quoted from the company’s website about the “Easy Clinical Screenings”:
“Patients take digital, gamified mental health assessments conveniently on their mobile device to learn their actual diagnosis and become more self aware. Providers can deploy customized assessment questions specific to each patient. Patients can see their charted progress over time. Assessments are reimbursable by insurers.”
The author is Didier Fassin, he is an anthropologist and socialogist who conducted research in Senegal, Ecuador, South AFrica and France. He used to be a doctor, but now is a professor at Princeton. He is suited in respect to emergency response because studying the people is how to help those affected by disaster.
The claims are supported by personal interviews/surveys by the author as well as external data from the state and other sources and studies.
