The author of this article is Scott Gabriel Knowles, the department head and an associate professor in the Drexel University Department of History Center for Science, Technology and Society. His focuses are on risk and disaster, with particular interests in modern cities, technology, and public policy. He also serves as a faculty research fellow of the Disaster Research Center at the University of Delaware and since 2011 he has been a member of the Fukushima Forum collaborative research community. The three points I followed up on were women and children’s likelihood of to develop mental illness after a disaster, mental health and hurricane Katrina, and comorbidity.

In recent years, incarceration rates and prison populations nationwide have grown exponentially for a variety of sociological and political factors. The organization believes that research indicates that this epidemic has had a particularly hard impact on economically vulnerable communities, where a majority of the people brought into custody suffer from addiction, substance use, and/or mental illness. Due to their economic situation these people were likely unable to seek care or treatment from any public health system in the community. This interaction of illnesses and diseases and criminalization in communities and incarceration results in a complex public health and human rights crisis in both correctional and other criminal justice settings. The Center for Prisoner Health and Human Rights seeks to apply new research to help to mitigate this.

This article has been references on many academic websites discussing the topic of biological citizenship, as well as how radiation from the disasters such as these can effect a country as a whole.

Technical professionals can make use of data from this study to persuade the WHO of the need of global health prevention, through use of gathering supplies, placing infrastructure, and increasing the country's virability in terms of economic and health status. This study can be used to prevent dieases, prep for natural disasters and stree the need for cures for aliments common to these countries.

The article has been referenced in articles that give perspectives of how culture can affect a medical diagnosis. This article was published in 1994 so it was hard to find references on the article.

The article addresses emergency response because it talks about the dark of helping people. The side people never hear about, those who do not want help or those who do not trust the help they are recieving. The volunteers (emergency response) that is provided is not recieved well, it says how the structure of helping these people needs to be changed so people believe that prevention will not bring diease.
