The report details the effects, both long and short term, of the effects of nuclear disasters on the population and environment. The knowledge gained form this report will help prevent or mitigate future disasters like this one if/should they occur.

This is seen as a good start to a major problem that needs far more assistance and advancement. People cite that meeting eligibility requirements are very hard and there are people that make more money than allowed to qualify, but still cannot afford mental health treatment. This policy is appreciated in a certain capacity, yet it is very apparent that people want more and think more help is needed. Of course, you will always have an opposing side when it comes to politics and there are people who think this is the perfect amount of assistance and nothing else is needed.

Along with this, the resettlement and life adjustments of those effected, as well as health and radiation implications are extensively discussed. 

                This study was published by the CDC under “Emerging Infectious Diseases”. Emerging Infectious Diseases, focuses on both identifying these emerging threats and disseminating information to its readers. The CDC earns a high respect from healthcare professionals. 

It matters to public health greatly because without it, hospitals could refuse to provide critical treatment until they were satisfied that the patient could pay, which can result in death from delay or refusal of care.
