This is a collection of community science in the Salton Sea in California Desert Communities.
I hope to be involved in projects that aim to gather scientific evidence to inform environmental decision making and advocate for greater equity and justice in environmental governance. Through this work, I hope to learn the skills needed to engage in community based research and leverage community knowledge as expert knowledge. In my department, things are often siloed and issues are only seen through one perspective. I really want to gain more experience in collaborating with a wide array of stakeholders to come up with approaches to mitigate the environmental injustices experienced in under-resourced communities.

The author used the census to accurately make the statistics needed to back up the main argument.
The article addresses the public health by showing that people can not afford daily necessities such as hosptial bills and things of that nature.
To control this is to create more job oppurtunities for black and low-income families.
The main point was to show the reader that people are in the poverty zone in Newark due to the lack of jobs. It is supported through statistics. The poverty rate increases as the unemployment rate increases and jobs decrease.
