The object of this study is to determine whether or not there was overdiagnosis of thyroid cancer in Fukushima dollowing the nuclear disaster in 2011. 

The author is a psychiatrist who specializes in clinical depression. He conducted his research for this article with anecdotes and personal experience. He references other studies regarding clinical depression and refers to doctors that used stories and personal experiences to help shape their diagnosis.

This report was produce by compiling historical events and vignettes of the investigation process following several prolific tragedies. They are compared, and conclusions are drawn about similar aspects that muddle investigation following one of these tragedies.

The authors are Paul E Farmer, Bruce Nizeye, Sara Stulac, and Salmaan Keshavjee. All of whom work for Partners in Health. Paul Farmer, the primary author, is a physician and an anthropologist who has deeply investigated human rights and health. He also works with low-income neighborhoods and cities within the US as well as abroad.
