Kristin Gupta is a third-year PhD student in the Department of Anthropology at Rice University, where she specializes in new burial technologies, multispecies ethnography, and queer theory. Her dissertation research follows the ways climate change has affected death rituals in the United States and India, largely focusing on activists challenging normative methods of interring the dead. Kristin is also a predoctoral fellow at the Center for Energy and Environmental Research in the Human Sciences and a co-coordinator for the Ethnography Studio, an experimental methods workshop at Rice. She holds an M.A. in South Asian Studies from the University of Washington.
